About Me

Help fund trip to the 2017 AAU Junior Olympics in Ypsilanti, MI Hello my name is Jaliyah Reese I am 10 years old. I am very excited to have qualified and earned the opportunity to participate in not one but two Junior Olympic (JO) Programs this year. The first JO program is the USA Track & Field Junior Olympics in Lawrence Kansas to compete in the High Jump. The second JO program is the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympics in Ypsilanti, MI. to compete in the High Jump, 100 Meter Race and possibly the 4x100 M relay that I will attempt to qualify for the National JO qualifier the weekend of July 1st in Reno, NV. It would be my dream to attend both Junior Olympic Games to compete but unfortunately even I realize the cost of travel alone for both trips would be just too much for my parents to endure at one time. With the help of gracious Sponsors though I just may be able to compete in one of the Junior Olympic games being hosted. I have chosen the AAU Junior Olympic Games in MI. to raise funds for because I have qualified to participate in more than one event. I am a first year runner and field event specialist for the 10 East Track club. A new extension of the 10 East club was formed this year in the High Desert that allowed several children the opportunity to participate in Track and Field for the first time. Luckily I was one of those kids. I got to become a 10 East club member and I was thrilled. I quickly became a sprinter. My races are the 100, 200 and 4x100 Meter Runs. I can also do the long Jump but my passion has quickly become the high Jump. After preseason I was very lucky to make the all Star team and with more meets to attend I decided to try the high Jump. This event has turned out to be my favorite. It might be because I have won all my meets so far in the high Jump but there is also no better feeling to me than making it over the bar without it falling down. Sometime I just feel like I can fly. I love to jump. My season record so far is 5 wins and 0 losses. I recently got a personal record jump of 4’ 3.25 inches and I am very eager to improve on that jump at the next meet. I have also won a few of my 100 and 200 Meter races which has motivated me to train even harder. I enjoy the feeling of running past all my opponents to the finish line. It is very fun to collect medals as my reward. I love to train and I work very hard at practice so I can try to be the best I can be. My current goal is to continue to train, attend some camps and clinics for my events and to one day run for the UCLA Bruins… I am in seek of any contributions, donations, or sponsors to help my parents send me to the JO games in MI. Your kind and considerate gifts will be greatly appreciated.
