About Me

Hi! My name is Cassidy Shaw, class of 2023. I am a utility player and starting pitcher. I am 5'5" and 115 lbs. I am an 8th grader currently attending Bell Mountain Middle School in Menifee, CA and I maintain a 4.0 GPA. I am active in ASB, and played for my middle school softball team. Proud to say we won the championship! I play for Firecrackers-Naranjo 14U coached by Martin Naranjo. I love the dynamics of this team! We strive to be competitive, but our coaches allow us to have fun and enjoy the game. Our coaches encourage us to push ourselves to the limit, and are always communicating on how to improve. I love their feedback, both positive and negative, and how they often turn mistakes into lessons. As a starting pitcher, I have learned how to deal with stress in and out of the circle. I have been training to improve my snap and velocity, and am excited with my progress. I feel that the older I get, the better I am able to hold back my emotions and focus on getting my job done for my team. I really enjoy being a utility player when I am not in the circle. Shortstop is exhilarating because of all of the different situations you can be in. Third base requires a quick glove and strong arm, and I love the speed of that position. Outfield improves my overall ability as a player by giving me speed and teaching me to think ahead of the play. I currently train at Victory Athletics, where I do cross-fit and conditioning. Getting stronger and faster as a player is a huge part of the game, and they really help me train correctly. My batting coach is Shane Wells - I have been with him for 3 years. All of my batting success has come from him. I love the way he trains me physically, but also mentally. My pitching Coach Shane Wells & my coaches’ work with me to put things into perspective and incorporate it into my workouts. I work throughout the week and during team practices to improve speed, pitch location, spin of the ball & pitching mechanics. Off the dirt, I love to play volleyball. It has helped me with speed and positioning, to be light and quick on my feet, and to have a level of control. I love the teamwork that is required to succeed on the court and am often the most vocal cheering on my team. I have an interest in tennis and would love to take on a new challenge - I think it would really strengthen my arm and improve my speed. When I have rare free-time, I enjoy baking, reading, painting, drawing, and learning about new material. I love to take my dogs on a walk, and spend time with my family. My happy place is on a beach, body surfing in the waves, sledding down a hill of snow and traveling to new places. Thank you so much for taking the time to learn about me!
