SMS Boys Bombers protect home court with big win in home finale!

The Bombers were led by team co-captain Colin Maher whose all-around performance on offense and defense helped carry them to victory. Brady Holmes, Chris Thompson, Mason Ford, and Naeto Attah chipped in defensively and on the boards. Jaiir Simmons scored 7 and played strong defense. DJ Thomas hit a huge buzzer beater 3pt shot to give the Bombers momentum heading into the 4th quarter where Tyler McQuiller had two clutch moments. Tyler hit a huge 3pt shot and made a deflection on defense that was controlled by Colin to ice the game. Landon Gregory had 15 points and gave the team his max effort for 4 quarters. Finally, the game MVP was Andria Saakashvili who led the way with a team high 16 points and a new middle school record 26 rebounds.

Transition Nightmares

The Bombers travelled to Carteret on Tuesday night and lost this contest 69-50. With key plays from Ryan Acevedo, Stephen Rivera, and Muhammad Ali, the Bombers fought their hearts out. They couldn’t guard the Carteret fast paced transition game, and ultimately gave up too many points off offensive rebounds. The Bombers close out their season against rival Piscataway on Thursday night. Come out and support them in the final game of the 2024-2025 season.

Tough Loss

The Bombers played a familiar team tonight in Perth Amboy Middle School. With some great plays by Corbin Salihagic and Stephen Rivera, the Bombers came up just short in this contest. Also contributing solid play was Ryan Acevedo and Jeffrey Grose. The Bombers have a small break in their schedule this week as they don’t have another game until next Tuesday against Carteret Middle School.

Bombers Defense Leads to Biggest Win of the Season!

The Bombers officially kicked off the second half of the season with a 58-29 road win over the North Brunswick Raiders. After an up and down 1st quarter, the Bombers turned on the pressure holding the Raiders to only 6 points, 5 points, and 8 points in the final 3 quarters. First time team captain Landon Gregory led the way with his best all around game of the season. The Bombers pulled away in the 3rd with all 5 starters Colin Maher, Jaiir Simmon, Tyler McQuiller, and center Andria Saakashvili contributing to the win. The game was put on ice by the unguardable left-hand and shot blocking of Naeto Attah.
