Newberg, OR — Well, that was probably my least favorite game for several reasons. Unfortunately, early on in the game, Gracie got really sick on the sidelines and was unable to play. She got a really bad case of the stomach flu. I had a couple of girls complaining of sore neck's and sore legs and arms hurting. Although we have no control over illness and injuries, It felt like we showed up not quite ready to play that day. 😬Others were complaining about their positions and asking to be switched relentlessly. I was also being asked constantly when kids were going to be going in and where. All of this is distracting to me on the sidelines. Unfortunately, there was also some drama going on, on the field amongst our own teammates criticizing each other. This does not make me happy. Overall, our girls are a much stronger team then who we played. Our skills are far superior! On a normal day, when everybody is healthy, and shows up ready to play with a great attitude, we would've dominated the field against that team. We have already beaten them once. The problem is when we show up tired, sick and injured or in pain it makes for a difficult game. We had some girls who really worked hard at trying to score goals and had a lot of shots on the goal! I was super proud of all of their aggressiveness and attempts at scoring. We had some really good defenders working hard to protect our goal, including both of our goalies. Unfortunately we just couldn't bring it and seal the deal. I look forward to moving on from this game and finishing with a strong last game this Saturday at 8 AM ! Thanks again for your support and please let the girls know they did their best on Saturday and to always remember to be kind and uplifting to each other. Thanks! Coach Hess
