Calvary wins!

What an amazing day out on the Calvary chapel softball field this afternoon. We defeated Rancho Alamitos for the second time this season & will advance to round two of CIF. It was a tight and exciting battle of a game today until we broke it open in the 6th. Rancho scored first and had a 2-0 lead in the 1st. It was a battle the entire game. Both of our pitchers pitched a great game today. Grace started and Kylee came in for the close in the 5th inning. Freshman Samantha Lee hit a two run basehit in the 5th to give us the the lead of 7-6. That hit was the game changer for us and we kept the lead from then on. That hit changed the momentum of the game. That two out Rally was started by Sophomore Katie Hare with walk. Next up was our senior, Sophia Peterson and had a basehit up the middle. Sam Lee then came up and hit these two in to give us the lead. Savannah Taylor had a great game on the base paths- stealing and taking extra bags on fumbled catches by the OF ans catcher. Our next game will be this Tuesday vs Mary Star. Pray for us as we move forward in CIF!!

Victory over Estancia

Freshman pitcher Kylee Pim pitched a great game against Estancia to clinch the 12-2 victory. We advance to a 6-1 record in league. Solid hitting today by Calvary: Sophmore First Baseman Emily Peterson hit a 2 run double with the bases loaded as well as Junior Jackie Cota almost hitting another HR in today’s game. Jackie powered one out to centerfield but then fell short of clearing the fence as it hit the top and dropped inside the ballpark, she ended up with a Triple instead. Sophomore center fielder Grace Craig hit an in the Park HR, really utilizing her speed as our lead off hitter. Many teachers, students, family and friends made it out to our game today. We are thankful for our home field that the LORD has blessed us with this year. Next game is this Monday vs. Godinez for our last shot in clinching 1st place in the Orange Coast League.

The Game of all Games

What a game! This was the ultimate battle! This was one of the most exciting, nail biting, stressful, fun, long games that we have played this year! This was a nail bitter just like our other International Tie Breaker in PreSeason against Beckman. To recap the game in a couple sentences is just too hard. There are so many AMAZING details and so many clutch plays that two sentences would hardly suffice. Let’s just say- Grace Craig pitched a great game. Alexis Soto called a great game. Kylee Pim, Crystal Eilerts and Katie Hare all made huge plays in the OF. Katie, sprinting from LF to 3B on bunt coverage- got CM’s fastest runner who was on 1B- she got her on a tag out at 3 when the runner tried to race straight from 1st to 3rd on a bunt. Our third baseman fielded the bunt- threw to 1B, Jackie Cota- our second baseman who was covering the base- made the force at 1, then fired the ball to 3B where our Left Fielder Katie Hare was covering and she made the catch and tagged the runner out as she slid hard into third. It was a huge play for us. Jackie Cota also hit a 3 run HR to keep us in the game in the 7th inning!!! We would have lost in the 7th if we didn’t score 2 to tie. Well her HR was a 3 run Hr and we went ahead in the 7th.
