The Learning Curve

It is said that one should never let their highs be too high or lows be too low. On this day, we had a chance to learn how we can bounce back from adversity, and we look forward to that opportunity to prove that we are better than what we were on this day. Go Knights!

Lady Knights Don't Let Distractions Get In the Way of Winning

The bus was nearly 20 minutes late, then it took the very scenic route to get to the field, giving the Lady Knights only 15 minutes to get ready to play their game against the Beaumont Cougars. The Lady Knights jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first, but then the offense stalled until the 5th inning. Arissa Calvillo led off the 5th inning with her second home run of the season, and Mikayla Prudholme and Mia Mendoza had RBI singles later in the inning. A four run 6th put the game away when Sam Polowski hit a single to right field to end the game by mercy rule.

Lady Knights Streak Snapped

Down two players on an already small squad, the Lady Knights went into the game against #10 ranked Chino Hills facing a tough task. Up to this point in the season, the Knights defense had been solid, but both physical and mental mistakes cost the girls a chance to keep the game closer. Another sign that it wasn't their day was some bad luck at the plate. The bats showed that they were still alive, as the girls continued to hit the ball hard, but it seemed that every ball found a glove.

Lady Knights Big 6th Inning Get Their Six Straight Win

After falling behind in the bottom of 5th inning 5-4, the Lady Knights had a two out rally to remember. Sarah Bubier beat out a miscue by a Redlands infielder, which was followed by yet another double by Arissa Calvillo. Justine Boyle, having hit her first home run of the season in the third and doubling in the fourth, doubled for the second time, giving the Lady Knights the lead for good. Kika Martinez followed with a rocket to right field, adding to the lead, and her own RBI total, three. Mikayla Prudholme followed with another base hit of her own, giving her 3 for 4 afternoon. Sam Polowski and Emma Paul both singled to extend the inning and the lead. Sam and Emma had hit the ball hard in each of their previous two at-bats, unfortunately they had been hit right into the Bulldog defense.
