Tough loss.

A game that was expected to be very competitive, turned out to be a disaster for our Sabers. We started out flat and things spiraled out of control. The All Black Crusaders scored on all of their first half possessions and took an early 24-0 lead at the half. Offensively, we couldn’t stop the Crusader pass rush and had a difficult time creating lanes for our running back. Our passing game seemed more effective than our running game tonight, especially after our starting running back re-aggravated an injury he suffered the week before. He would leave the game in the second quarter. The Crusaders returned the second half kick-off all the down to about the Saber 35 yard line. A personal foul penalty would set them up 1st and 10 from inside the 20 yard line. Two plays later, they would extend their lead to 30-0. Offensively, we had a little more success in the second half, but not enough to manufacture any points. Quarterback DJ Faavi made some plays with his feet to keep a few drives alive and earned the Ultimate Player Award for our team. The Crusaders scored once more in the third quarter before sending in the reserves to finish out the game. A tough loss, but as we all know, our boys have a lot football left to play.

Sabers vs Tigers

Led by Tayson Tiitii, Lincoln Uiagalelei, Tamatoa Gaoteote and Zechariah Alualu-Tuiolemotu, our defensive front-7 put on another dominating performance with numerous tackles for loss and sacks. Cornerbacks Brock Gasper-Birgado and Kaden Cochran shut down the Tiger wide receivers but also stepped up against the run, making some nice open field tackles. James Steffany-Fiame nearly intercepted 2 passes on defense. Fiame also led the team in scoring with a rushing touchdown on offense and a punt return for a touchdown! Fiame has to be in the lead for League MVP honors. DJ Faavi connected with Logan Hange for a 40 yard touchdown pass and then again on the ensuing two point conversion. Faavi also ran in a two point conversion. Jayzen Fernandez took a screen pass 30 yards to set up a 9 yard touchdown run by Zion Ishimine. Fernandez also got into the end zone on the ensuing two point conversion. The best highlight of the game was a two point conversion pass caught by Maka Hardie. Hardie, one of the smallest players on our team, shook the socks off of a good sized Windward Tigers linebacker and got into the end zone untouched! The play got our crowd cheering and also got our sideline fired up! MVP honors for this game went to our Offensive Line. These guys dominated the line of scrimmage, created huge running lanes for our running backs and didn’t give up a sack all game. Javian Goo, Amarxus Amosa, Riley Leuma, Aloalii Malaki and Tayson Tiitii.

Please pick up your kids!!

Car wash is done!! It was a success! Thank you all!!

Sabers vs Marauders

Referees scored our game 58-0, but the actual score was slightly higher. James Fiame and Zion Ishimine each had rushing TD’s, while DJ Faavi threw for 5 TD’s. Zyren Menor led our receiving corp with 2 TD receptions. Zeki Tuiolemotu, Jayzen Fernandez and Logan Hange each had a TD reception. Coen Mackinney and Maka Hardie also caught passes in the endzone for extra points. On special teams, we nearly broke 3 punts for TD’s and recovered a fumble on one of our kick-offs. The highlight of our game had to be the 2 pick-6’s by game MVP Tamatoa Gaoteote, and our numerous tackles for loss and sacks by our defensive front 7. Brock Birgado also played solid with numerous passes defended, locking down Waipahu’s primary deep threat to 0 receptions on the day.
