Titans,

I regret to inform the Titan Football community that this morning we learned of the extended closure of summer sports activities through the end of July. Unfortunately, the California State Department of Public Health just released the following statement:
“We were recently notified that an error in our process permitted youth team sports to do drills exercises under the fitness guidance. We would like to correct this statement. At this time, no recreational team sports are permitted and the fitness guidance is not to be used for team sports activities. Personal training and fitness pursuits occur under the fitness guidance, recreational team sports will be permitted at a later time with specific guidance for that sector.

We apologize for this prior miscommunication. You can find the most up-to-date information about recreational team sports here https://covid19.ca.gov/roadmap-counties/”

As it reads, the State of California Department of Public Health had mistakenly provided inaccurate information and provisions that led to the County of Riverside and Lake Elsinore Unified School District's undertakings to resume summer sports activities for July.

This news is disappointing and I understand the frustration of our players, coaches, families, and community. My top priority for our program is player safety and this is a matter that I have taken on with the utmost seriousness. Our coaching staff and school administration has worked for months on preparing team activities to address every protocol and safety measure to ensure that we do not jeopardize the health of anyone within or connected to our football program. Never was our intention to conduct team activities that were outside of the health measures and safety guidelines that have been set forth by our school, district, county, or state.

This news is certainly disappointing for me because I know how much our players want to be back out on the field. All of our players have been patient and optimistic throughout this entire process. I want everyone to know understand our coaches are continuing to adapt and develop plans for when we are finally able to get back together. We are disappointed but not discouraged. I will continue to challenge our players to show the same resolve we have throughout this pandemic. We will come out stronger through this and if we can stick together throughout all of this adversity to begin the new direction of the Temescal Canyon Football Program, the rewards will be that much greater once we come out on the other side!

Thank you for all of your efforts, optimism, and patience! Go Titans!
