Solid 4th Quarter Puts the Game Away!

The C Team Lions traded touchdowns back and forth with the Buhler Crusaders throughout a tough, physical ball game all afternoon. Goddard held an 8 point lead following multiple passing touchdowns by Colton Watkins to targets Blake Read and Jake Jasnoski. Micah Johnson's electric punt return lead by a Lane Nelson crushing block, helped push the lead. Once ahead by eight late in the game the Lions gave up the trying score with four minutes to play. All tied at 22-22, the Lions offense opened the door for a pair of Micah Johnson long touchdown runs as time was running out on the Crusaders. The final score was did not show how gutsy the performance was by the Lions to shut the door late in the game to win 36-22.

10/9 KMC Opening Night Football 2020

Awesome to see the Goddard Lions rocking their Royal tonight in the DEN! Goddard was tested by a strong Kapaun Mt. Carmel team and fell short 32-20. The teams traded touchdowns early, but Goddard lost the turnover battle and ended up on the losing end. The Lion defense made several big plays at the goal line, which included an interception at the 3 yard line by Sandler Bowyer, and another series late in the game that they stopped KMC inside the 1 year line. Offensively the Lions had spurts of a solid running attack with Devin Mathes and Micah Johnson, but will need to continue to improve holding onto the ball moving forward. The scoring all came through the air with Mason Healy catching two Cooper Zimmer touchdown passes, and Healy also connecting on a trick play with Jacob Read for the other score.
