Ms. Oettle is very excited to be teaching and directing at Goddard High School. Ms. Oettle began her teaching career at GHS in 2000 after graduating from Emporia State University with a BFA in Theatre and a BSE in Speech/Communications. In 2007 Ms. Oettle and her family moved to Los Angeles where she taught theatre in the Los Angeles Unified School District for 5 years. Her last production in LA was the west coast premier of a bi-lingual version of Disney's Aladdin and it received much acclaim from the LAUSD Arts Education Branch as well as the San Fernando Valley community. Ms. Oettle has an extensive background in dance including tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, and hip hop and loves directing and choreographing plays and musicals. She is also a designer and has created entire sets of costumes from scratch for productions such as Once Upon a Mattress, Shakespeare's Midsummer Nights Dream, Cinderella, and the Dual Language Version of Disney's Aladdin where she was able to teach her students all about the LA Fashion District. When not working on productions she loves to travel and has taken students on field trips to New York, London, Paris, Stratford-Upon Avon, and Amsterdam where her cast from Diary of Anne Frank was able to tour the attic Anne Frank and her family hid in during WWII. Mrs. Oettle is proud to lead Goddard's International Thespian Troupe which received the distinguished Gold Honor Troupe Award every year she has been the sponsor and she directed the award winning Kansas Thespian Conference Main Stage production of Fools which Goddard performed in 2005 and Charley’s Aunt in 2014. Since returning to GHS in 2012, Ms. Oettle has enjoyed working with Goddard students both on stage and in the classroom. The 2013 musical, Beauty and the Beast received several MTW Jester Awards as well as a Jimmy Nomination. She is looking forward to another fantastic year at Goddard High!
