Mustangs Suffer their First Loss to #2 Ridgefield

Although the Mustangs came up short in a much awaited matchup, the boys competed with one of the top teams in the state. Through the first quarter, the Mustangs and Tigers were knotted at 5, exchanging blow for blow. At the half, the Mustangs trailed by just 2 but continued to complete. The tigers potent offense struck quickly in the 3rd quarter and a few unlucky bounces found the Mustangs on the losing end of a tough but competitive game. Both the offense and defense showed they can compete with the best. This is a great opportunity for the team to learn and move forward as a unit. Next game is Thursday, 6pm, Home vs St Joes. The Mustangs look to lock up a spot in the state tournament with their next win.

6-0 Start, With a Big Week Ahead

The Mustangs rolled into Stamford to take on the Vikings of Westhill High School. The Mustangs jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and did not look back. The team went into half time with a 12-5 lead. The 5 goals conceded in the first half where the most allowed in any half this season by the defense, but the team stepped up their performance by blanking the Vikings in the 3rd and 4th quarter, to end the game with a 20-5 victory. The team is now averaging 17+ goals per game, while only allowing 5.6 goals against. The Mustangs hope to maintain these numbers as they head into a big matchup with Ridgefield High School, at Warde on Tuesday at 6pm.

Mustangs Continue Their Hot Streak

In an early season Conference matchup with The Trumbull HS Eagles, the Mustangs played a complete game. The Mustangs played outstanding in all facets of the game. The defense continued to stifle opponents, only allowing 3 goals on 11 shots on goal. Goalie Finn Doyle played outstanding stopping 8 shots. The offense continued its hot start maintaining its 16 goals per game average. The face off unit of Buck and Brault continued to dominate the X, winning 80%. Man down defense also had an great performance tonight, only conceding 1 goal on 5 opportunities.

Mustangs Push the Streak to 4

Mustangs took a ride to Wallingford today to take on a Lyman Hall team that came in 3-1 on the seasons. Mustangs jumped out to a 3 - 0 lead with 3 goals by Jack McKenna and each assisted by Zack Corsi. The 2nd goal scored was McKenna’s 100th career goal. 10 players contributed in the scoring including Adam Giglietti and Jeremy Brault scoring their first goal of the early season. Mustangs won 86% of the faceoffs taken and the defense continued to hold opponents to a GAA of less then 5. Sammy Knorr won his first game of the season posting 5 saves.
