Varsity Oceanside vs Ramona
While a 7-12 score doesn’t reflect a “good game”, Friday’s game was just that! Pirates played a tough game against a top D2 seed and held their own. For the first time in known history, our Pirates are in D2, and are proving this is where they belong. With only 12 turnovers the entire game, the Pirates showed control and team work against Clairemont. Goalie, Bo DuBois had a strong game with 13 blocks, 1 steal, and some amazing passing. Cody, Blake, and Thomas each had 2 goals, and Senior Tanner rounded off the goals with an outside lob shot. Dylan Crookes led the Pirates in steals with 4, while Tanner and Blake each had 2.
Varsity Pirates played a strong game against the San Marcos Knights. Unfortunately, Coach Kelsie had to implement team consequences during the first half of the varsity game due to communication, commitment, and practice issues in the previous days. These consequences affected the starting lineup, and ultimately the outcome of the game. Pirates ultimately lost the game 7-11, but had some great moments throughout the four quarters. Junior Antonio Day was brought up to play Varsity in a temporary move, but due to his enthusiasm and hard work, Coach decided to make the move permanent. Tanner Armstrong stepped up big for the Pirates, scoring 4 of the 7 goals, and having 3 steals. The Munoz brothers put the final 3 points on the board, with Logan scoring 1, and Blake scoring 2.
