Rocco Sansone 2021-22 JV / 2nd Team Riverview High School Head Soccer Coach is named the next Head Coach of the Varsity Soccer Program succeeding veteran Ed Stroop upon the announcement of his coaching retirement beginning in 22-23.
Rocco served 1 year as JV / 2nd Team Head Coach, Assistant Varsity Coach for Riverview High School in 2021-22 with a successful JV season campaign of 8-3-3, and first in League Play (3-1-1), including as an Assistant Head Coach to a Final 16 State Tournament run with Varsity, and is a Staff Youth Academy Coach for FC Sarasota locally. Rocco comes from the rich soccer club community of Greater Chicago, IL having Coached for several years with a focus on grass roots player development and holds a USSF National D License – (enrolled recommended for the National C License in 2022) and other soccer certifications, including a United States Youth Futsal License (USYF), AYSO Advanced Instructor, United Coaches Association, and the Italian Federation. He was an academy soccer player and has coached in many organizations. Rocco recently served as Staff Coach on Northwind SC in Chicago, on the Board Directors for AYSO Region 418 - Chicago Lakefront, and served as U10 Director, Coach Trainer Education, Director (DOC) of the 2019 National Games Program comprised of 5 Male and Female Age Groups U10-U19, and over 150 players, as well as in AYSO Section 6 EXTRA player development program training. He has also coached for the Illinois Youth Soccer Association, USA Soccer Foundation - Soccer for Success Program, Chicago Futsal Academy, UK International, as well as the Pre-Academy Director for Brazilian based Schneider Futsal Academy. Rocco was also the recipient of the 2018 Positive Coaching Alliance “Double Goal Coaching” Chicago Chapter Award and a National Finalist. Coach Sansone holds a B.A from University of Illinois at Chicago, and Dual Masters (MBA, MSOM) out of Dominican University in River Forest, IL.
