Otsego, MI — Wednesday night the Caledonia ski team hosted the Southwest Michigan Ski Conference meet at Bittersweet. Despite their slalom struggles, they held on to take 2nd in the meet. Mattawan 73pts Caledonia 101pts South Haven 111pts Hudsonville 120.5 pts Portage 135 pts Plainwell/TK 142 pts K-United 202.5 pts "Our guys came out and skied phenomenally in GS tonight! Reid Goosen won his first event, which is something that doesn't happen too often--most great skiers never win an event, and I am super proud of him. The Roys (Tyler and Zach) both knocked out great GS runs and were both in the top 10 and Ben DeGood ended up 13th". "The guys skied like I know that they can in GS tonight, this was part of the reason this team started the season ranked in our Region". Coach Petrosky. "As well as we skied in GS we struggled in slalom. The team has been working hard to improved in slalom and I see signs that we are making improvements but we just haven't been able to get enough great runs down yet to see the results." Scoring for the Scots were Reid Goosen (1st GS & 25th SL), Tyler Roy (3rd GS), Zach Roy (8th SL & 8th GS) and Ben DeGood (4th SL & 13th GS). In the Varsity B meet the Caledonia Boys glided to an easy victory winning by 22 pts. "Our Varsity B team ran a perfect score in the GS portion of their meet going 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. I know that this is the first time any Caledonia Team has ever done this and the guys on our team should be very proud of their skiing. Even though we only score the top 3 in varsity B this is an incredible accomplishment". Coach P. Scoring for the Scots B team were Sean Rice (1st GS & 2nd SL), Brayden Smith (2nd GS) and Mason Peters (3rd GS & 3rd SL) and Nick Kittredge (7th SL).
