Orlando, FL — ORLANDO, Fla. — The Cedar Grove football team opened its season with a 24-12 road victory over University High School of Orlando Friday night. With 10:58 left in the first half, Alfonso Lombardi threw a 55-yard bomb down the left sideline to Michael Marinelli for a touchdown and Chris Babcock kicked the extra point to give Cedar Grove a 7-0 lead. Coletta scored on a 9-yard TD run around the right side with 5:28 left in the second quarter to boost the Panthers’ lead to 14-0. With 2:05 left in the third quarter, on a fourth down pass, Lombardi hit Coletta with an 8-yard TD pass over the middle as the Panthers moved ahead, 21-6. Babcock kicked a 25-yard field goal with 5:23 left in the fourth quarter for a 24-6 Panther lead before University tacked on a TD in the closing minutes to shape the final score.
