Wildomar, CA — Click the link below for a Video Recap of this game http://www.hudl.com/v/2Fr8u6 The visiting team won for the second time as the Liberty Bison pulled ahead to defeat the Elsinore Tigers 24-7. The Tigers held a 7-6 advantage entering the 4th quarter, but 3 second half turnovers on offense proved costly. The Bison got on the scoreboard first, using a powerful rushing attack to drive downfield. However the Tigers stopped the 2 point conversion (Bison were 0-4 on 2 pt. Tries for the day). The offense crossed midfield each time they held the ball in the first half, with QB Ryder Wood operating a shotgun attack and having multiple chances to carry the ball for positive yardage. However, penalties and negative plays resulted in a turnover on downs and a punt. Kalui Dos Santos Costa made a great punt after a bad snap, which was dropped by the Liberty returner and recovered by Hayden Hughes. The Tigers would capitalize with a quick and effective rushing attack that was capped by a 10 yard run by wingback Adrian Stankevich behind offensive tackle Devon McElroy, who stepped in for the first time at left tackle. The score would remain this way until the 4th quarter, with the teams trading defensive stops thoughout the 3rd quarter. Linebacker Landon Hawkins (7 Tackles, 3 for loss and 1 Forced Fumble) and Strong Safety Stankevich(9 Tackles) were all over the field stopping the Bison run attack, while cornerback Aedin Chamberlain made 2 nice pass break ups to turnover the Bison offense. Although the scoreboard doesn’t show it, this was an evenly matched game from start to finish. The Bison were able to capitalize on 2 Tiger turnovers and some defensive missed alignments and assignments to run away. The game ended on a positive note, with cornerback Eal Merida Cano making 2 nice solo tackles while reserve running backs Jonah Flores and Parker Gillman earned chunks of rushing yards behind an offensive line of Corbin Bovee, Ivan Contreras, Gabriel Larraguibel, Jacob Rodriguez, along with TE Breanne Barker and WRs Isaac Martin and Osiris Brown. The Tigers look forward to seeing you in Westphal Stadium at EHS at 4 pm on Thursday, 9/23/21 as they take on the Valley View Eagles of Moreno Valley, CA.
