Gobles, MI — The Caledonia started the season off with a target on their backs after winning 5 conference championships in a row and ended up taking 2nd at the first SWMSC meet of the season. “Our guys really did a nice job tonight and put down some great times but I have to say Mattawan / Paw Paw was very impressing tonight. They did not make any mistakes and put down some impressive numbers.” Coach Petrosky. “We have a team where everyone of my top six could lead the way any race and tonight my juniors really stepped up and did a nice job. Tyler Dean and Sean Rice skied great! They finished in the top ten in both events, which is a nice way to start the season. Last year, we took 2nd in the first meet and it was a real motivation for the team to push their skiing and I believe that our guys make a come back, there is a lot of skiing left this season!” Tyler Dean led the way placing 6th in slalom and 8th in GS, while Sean Rice took 5th in GS and 10th in slalom. Also scoring for the Scots were Tyler Roy (10th GS & 12th SL), Ben DeGood (11th GS) and Brayden Smith (13th SL). The Scots also took 2nd place at the Varsity B meet. Leading that way for the B-Team were Carsen Kamminga (2nd GS & 7th SL), Luke Shuster (3rd SL & 4th GS), and Ben Diegel (6th SL & 6th GS). Also scoring for the Scots were Nick Kittredge (8th SL) and Brendan Scheid (7th GS).
