Thompsonville, MI — Although the Benzie Invitational had fewer teams this year, what it lacked in numbers it made up for in quality. Grand Rapids Christian and Onekama are both ranked teams and the Scots skied right with them. The Scots ended up third in the meet but had many bright spots in its performances. "Coming into the race we knew that this was a tough field and we hoped to see how well we stacked up against them. Our guys did a really nice job and I think we are closer to them than we expected. Our team skied consistently in GS and struggled a little in slalom today but overall this race is was a huge success. It is showing us some trends for our entire team since our B-Teams also raced in the Invitational this year." Coach Petrosky"We have some great competition going on, which will lead to some minor changes in our running order and hopefully allow this team to be a little bit faster by the time we get to Regionals on Feb 14th" Leading the way for the Varsity Team were Ben DeGood (medaling with an 8th in GS & 9th in SL), Tyler Dean (medaling with 10th in both events), Tyler Roy (medaling with a 9th in GS), also scoring were Sean Rice (12th GS & 12th SL) and Brayden Smith (17th SL). The B-Team also raced at the Benzie Invitational and the B-Fast crew put down some great times! Leading the way were Luke Shuster (15th SL & 17th GS), DJ Potgeter ( 15th GS & 16th SL), Ben Diegel (21st GS & 22nd SL) and Carsen Kamminga (21st SL and 22nd GS). The finishes are a great sign for Caledonia's future since they are part of the overall placements and the first time many of our B-Team skiers have raced in an Invitational.
