Mancelona, MI — Schuss Mountain is over 500 feet of steep and one of Michigan's premiere High School racing site. The Scots were there Monday to race in the inaugural Clare Invitational. The race featured two of the top ten teams in the state and the Scots skied well enough to end up 4th in the field of 8 team. "It has been a few years since our team has raced at Schuss and the last time we trained here was when our juniors were freshman but the kids came out and really pushed themselves at the race today". Coach Petrosky"The guys finished 3rd in slalom and tied for 4th in GS without one of our senior starters, Tyler Roy who was hurt training on Sunday. I want to give a huge shout out to my assistant coaches who really stepped up when I was not able to attend the race, they did an awesome job preparing the kids for racing a very challenging slope. Our team has had the success we have had in large part due to having a great team of coaches that all work together to help our athletes grow:" Ben DeGood (7th SL and 11th GS) and Tyler Dean (14th SL and 15th GS) both double medaled at the race to lead our team. Also scoring were Sean Rice (16th SL & 19th GS) and Brayden Smith (19th SL & 20th GS). The Scots have a conference race this coming Wednesday at Bittersweet and a non-conference race Thursday at Bittersweet before heading to Regionals at Caberfae Peaks on Valentines Day.
