Thompsonville, MI — "Our girls really skied well at the Benzie! Barbie, Evie and Mya ended up bringing home medals and our other skiers really did well at the race. The girls are really skiing well right now on the big hills against teams that are ranked in the state right. State ranked GR Christian has great team and so do Onekama & Benzie, so it made for a competitive race. Benzie edged us by .5pts to take third but regardless of the outcome our team learned some valuable lessons at the race today." Many of our girls have not raced on slopes as big or steep as Buck at Crystal Mountain and they really stepped up to the challenge and provided some exciting racing. Leading the way for the varsity team were seniors Barbie DeGood (medaling with a 5th SL & 6th GS) and Evie Schlett (medaling with 9th GS and just missing a medal with an 11th SL). Earning her first medal skiing for the Scots was Mya Baldwin with an 8th in GS. Also scoring for the girls team were Kyleigh Thompson (14th GS & 14th SL) and Erin Peckham (23rd SL). The girl's B-Team also had some great performances from its girls first race on Buck. Leading the way was Elena Luraschi (22nd SL & 26th GS), Lydia Sowerby (26th SL & 29th GS), and Kayli Price ( 30th SL & 34th GS).
