With half the team being freshmen, this shows the future is bright for MHS tennis. Josh played one of the most exciting matches of the day in the 3rd place match. Down 2-5, and needing the win for the team, Josh was able to fight his back and finish the match at 9-5. Josh showed so much poise and determination in his battle back that I hope the freshmen took notice, no matter how down you are in a match you need to just keep fighting. Bishop was our other singles player. The most important thing we talked about during and after the match was that he needs to trust his game and be on the offensive during matches. Not only does he play so much better when he's attacking the ball, he looks like he is having much more fun on the court as well. As a freshman, this is something he'll need to keep working at during the off-season, but once he's got it figured out he'll be a tough opponent for anyone. Alex and Bryson played tough all day. There were moments in each match where their freshmen experience shined through, but every time they were able to refocus and get the job done. Both of these guys have such big games, as they learn to move better on the court and be smart about their shot selections, they'll raise their play several notches. Connor and Braden once again won the #2 doubles title for the second year in a row. To illustrate their toughness, these two started the year losing their first two matches, but have not lost in tournament play together since then. Today was another great showing, winning a tough battle in the final. We wrap up the JV schedule with 14 of our players competing at our home JV tournament tomorrow (Friday), and a final JV tournament in Buhler on Saturday. Varsity will compete at the AVCTL Div. 3/4 League Tournament on Monday.
