Wichita, KS — The Bullpup Tennis Team competed in the AVCTL Div. III & IV Tournament on Tuesday, coming away with a second place finish with 55 points, as they reached the semifinals in each division. This was the final meet before the Pups host the Regional Tournament and Coach Tyler Brown said, “We switched some of our line up around to give some players a chance to get either direct wins or indirect wins over players that will end up being in our Regional on Friday.” The No. 2 Doubles team of Jaden Fox and Ty Kraemer, went 2-0 to claim first place after battling back in the championship from being down a set, and with that win, Wichita Collegiate would not be able to sweep every division. The No. 1 Doubles team of Wesley Wurm and Ty Kraemer went 2-1 on the day, falling in the championship to who Coach Brown would consider the favorite to win the 321A Doubles State Tournament. At No. 1 Singles, Ayden Johnson would look to improve on his regional seeding, as he went 2-1, falling in the semis. He was able to bounce back for a third place finish. Competing at No. 2 singles for the first time this season was Kayden McVicker, he opened with a win over Winfield to reach the semis, where he would later take fourth place. Brown, who’s looking forward to this time of year, concluded by saying, “I’m excited for Friday to see what all six of these guys can do on our home courts for Regionals.” Regionals will be hosted at McPherson High School on Friday, beginning at 10 a.m. Regional teams include; Abilene, Buhler, Chapman, Clay Center Community, and El Dorado.
