Gobles, MI — The South West Michigan Ski Conference's season kicked off Monday and the Scots had a great performance. Caledonia took 2nd place at the meet and was pretty close to Mattawan's meet winning performance. "A couple weeks ago, we raced against Mattawan at the Cadillac Invitational so we knew that they were fast and that we have the potential to beat them. They have a great team and their performance is pushing my guys to ski better." Coach Petrosky "Today they were a little faster but we are going to work hard to get ahead of them at the next race." Four of Caledonia's scoring skiers were top fifteen. Tyler Dean and Sean Rice traded off leading the team in events with Tyler placing 5th in slalom and 6th in GS while Sean scored 5th in GS and 10th in slalom. Rounding out the scoring were Luke Shuster (12th GS & 14th SL) and junior Brayden Smith (12th SL & 13th GS). "We are proud of our guys effort and are looking forward to a rematch at our conference race on Wednesday Feb 1st" Caledonia Tied for First at the Varsity B Meet! Our varsity B or JV team tied Mattawan at 49 points(updated score after an error was found in the DSQ score value). The B Team skied great and we had a lot of skiers score between the two events, which is a great sign for Caledonia's future. Scoring in Slalom were Cohen Broomfield (3rd), Derick Prichard (4th), Nick Kittredge (6th) and Gavin Dean (7th). Scoring in Giant Slalom were Derick Prichard (2nd), James Diegel (6th), Brennan Donnelly (8th) and Luke Smith (9th).
