Otsego, MI — Wednesday night, the Scots raced in another conference meet but this time it was at Bittersweet. "Races don't get much closer than last night's conference race at Bittersweet. Our guys really skied great and won giant slalom last night to put us in the position to gain some ground on Mattawan, who is currently in first place in the SWMSC. Five of our six racers were in the top ten in GS tonight, which is the best we have skied this year and we skied pretty well in slalom too, with two skiers in the top ten and our other two scoring skiers in the top fifteen but Mattawan ended up beating us in slalom. When all the points were totaled up, we were beaten by 6.5 points." Coach Petrosky "It was nice being back home at Bittersweet last night, our team always skis well there and we did a great job keeping the conference race for first place close." "In giant slalom, Sean Rice placed 3rd, Tyler Dean placed 4th, Brayden Smith placed 7th , DJ Potgeter place 8th and Luke Shuster placed 10th. There are not too many races where your ski skis well enough that a 10th place finish doesn't count as a part of your top four. These guys were really fast at this race." Scoring in slalom for the Scots were Tyler Dean 6th, Brayden Smith 9th, Luke Shuster 12th and DJ Potgeter 13.5 place. The Scots have a busy race schedule leading up to regionals. They race Saturday at Cannonsburg in the Norm's GS Invitational, Monday at Schuss Mountain in the Clare Invitational and next Wednesday at Timber Ridge for a SWMSC race. Caledonia's B Team won their meet and the skiers on our team are really growing as racers. Scoring for the Scots B Team in GS were Derick Prichard (3rd), Rydik Wrubel 5th, Gavin Dean (7th) and James Diegel (10th). Scoring in Slalom were Nick Kittredge (3rd), James Diegel (5th), Gavin Dean (9.5 ) and Charlie Doan (9.5). The B Team is in first place in the conference B standings.
