Belmont, MI — "At the beginning of the season, our goal was to see improvement in each of our skiers and we did! I know 10th place is not something we have seen in a while but we haven't had a team this young either. My Juniors led the way all season and at regionals their leadership came through. Mya Baldwin and Kyleigh Thompson have proven themselves on the slopes and off the slopes. Even when they have a tough run, they are there cheering on their team mates and are ready for their next event. Mya had a great first slalom run and then on her second run clipped a gate with her ski causing it to come off. Even though this was not the result she had hoped for, Mya cleared her head and finished the race leading our team in GS. Both Baldwin and Thompson have been the foundation of our rebuild and I could not be prouder of these two outstanding young ladies!" The girls team finished 8th in slalom and were led by Kyleigh Thompson (30th), Erin Peckham (34th), Liz Hilton (43rd) and Kayi Price (49th). In Giant Slalom the Scots were led by Mya Baldwin (35th), Kyleigh Thompson (37th), Liz Hilton (51st) and Erin Peckham (52nd). The Scots have two more races scheduled, a conference race at Bittersweet on Feb 22nd and the first annual Caledonia Invitational at Crystal Mountain. The race will be against Benzie Central, Grand Rapids Christian, Maple City Glenn Lake, Onekama and Plainwell TK.
