Belmont, MI — If there was one thing that you could count on this winter, it was that it would be raining and warm on a Thursday. All but two Thursdays this season were washed out but the Caledonia Middle School team made the most of it by skiing on Sundays at Crystal Mountain which helped the team improve and help the 8th graders prepare for high school and the 7th graders be ready for next season--when we know that the weather will be more cooperative! GR Christian won our conference title again this year but we showed that our best skiers could complete and that our new skiers could improve enough to make it competitive. "Our coaches were extremely proud of how well our kids skied and how much they improved from run to run at our races this season. We see a ton of potential and are excited to see all of our skiers as they move up a grade next year." Coach Petrosky, the high school varsity coach. "I see several skiers that could make an impact next year as freshman and can not wait to start working with them to help them gain strength in the off season." Leading the way for the girls on Saturday was 8th grader Madison Reynolds, who placed 4th on the Quad course and 6th on the Face course. Maddy has trained with us and also with the Crystal Mountain Community Ski Club, which is really showing in her skiing! Rounding out the girls team's scoring were Maggie Koopsman (11th Quad and 13th Face), Ada Decker (20th Quad & 21st Face), Abigail Putnam (20the Face & 21st Quad) and 6th grader Elizabeth Hilton (28th on both courses). The boys team was led by 7th grader, Junior Harper who placed 8th on the Quad course and 9th on the Face course. Junior also races with the Bittersweet JDT team. Rounding out the scorers were Cohen Bloem (12th Quad & 20th Face), Jake Potgeter (10th Face & 14th Quad), Trey Langland (25th Face and 27th Quad) and 6th grader Drew Potgeter (13th Quad & 17th Face). Congratulations on a great season. If anyone would like information on additional races for this season please let me know. There are races the next couple weekends at Caberfae Peaks.
