Belmont, MI — The Caledonia MS Ski Team had some great performances at Cannonsburg at its first team race. The Scots were very close to the GR Catholic Team's score ending up only 5 points out of second place at the race. The race was on the quad course at Cannonsburg and each racer scored the best two of their three runs. Most skiers improved from their first run to their last run, which is a sign that this group of skiers will continue to be faster as their race season continues this Saturday. Leading the way for the Scots was 8th grader Aiden Brown, who placed 3rd at the race and closely followed by Justin Harper a 7th grader, who placed 3rd. Rounding out the scoring skiers were James Prichard 10th, Jake Potgeter 12th and Cohen Bloem 14th. All of our boys skiers did a great job--their times can be viewed by going to the event page and opening the attached score documents. For the girls team, Madison Reynolds led the way with a 4th place finish, Abby Putnam 13th place, Maggie Koopsman 15th place and two sixth graders rounded out the scoring, Olivia Yonker 20th place and Emily Hilton finished 27th. The Scots next meet is Saturday at Cannonsburg. Inspection begins at 10am and the race starts at 10:30. Each skier will have 3 runs on each course. The top ten skiers from the two days of racing will earn medals and the top team will get to take the traveling trophy to their school for the next year.
