Santa Ynez, CA — Boys Varsity was 2nd with 104.5 points to San Marcos' 147. The squad break down of points shows Jumps earned 29.5 points, Distance 23, Sprints 20, Relays 21, Throws 7, and Hurdles 4 points. And, with the introduction of a new event in the Championship, our 4x800m Relay team won and set the new Meet Record. 4x800m relay set the new event meet record of 8:39.92 with the efforts of Andy Brennan, Connor Gates, Luci Koroshec, and Finn Wright. Earlier in the day, Luci Koroshec took 2nd in the 1600m with a 10 second personal record 4:27.32. This places him 6th on the Channel League rankings. That's his second PR run in the past 4 days. On Wednesday he lowered his best from last season by 5.5 seconds, then took another 10 seconds off today. Eoghan Gloster won the Pole Vault with a 3" PR, clearing 12'3". He lead teammates Joey Snodgress to 2nd place with 11'6", and Tommy Chase in a tie for 3rd with a PR equalling 11'0". They maintain their 3rd, 4th, and 5th rankings. Dominic Corral took 2nd in the 800m with a 2:04.75, which lowered his personal record by over 3 seconds. This improved his previous best which had been run on Wednesday at our home meet. This ranks him 15th in the League standings, going into next Thursday's League Finals. Conor Dolan finished in 3rd place in the 400m dash with a PR of 52.00 seconds. This slight improvement over his best from a couple of weeks ago ranks him 5th in League standings. Chris Pagliaro took 5th in the Long Jump with a 20'7" clearance; a PR by over 10 inches further than his previous best from Wednesday's Senior Night meet at DP. This ranks him 8th in the Channel League. He also took 7th in the Triple Jump with a PR of 40'2.5", bettering his lifetime best by nearly 5 inches. This maintains his 13th seed ranking. The 4x100m Relay team of Cole Adair, Gabriel Runyen, Kaleb Williams and Joel Felix placed 3rd with a 44.20 second time. Without Senior Dylan Orquiola, this team managed to equal our 2nd best time this season. - Girls Varsity finished in 6th place with 42 points to SB County Champs Righetti's 118. The squad break down of points shows Jumps earned the most with 19, while Distance earned 8, Hurdles earned 8, Relays earned 5, and Sprints earned 2. Elizabeth Yancey took 3rd in the Long Jump with a PR jump of 17'0". This was a 4" improvement over her lifetime best from just a couple of weeks ago. This ranks her 1st in the Channel League going into the Championship next Thursday. Later in the day, she took 2nd in the 100m Hurdles with a PR of 16.40 seconds. This slight improvement comes on the heels of her previous best from Wednesday. This maintains her 3rd ranked standing in the League Ellie Gleason took 2nd in the 800m with a 3 second PR over her previous best from Wednesday's Senior Night at home. Her time of 2:23.16 ranks her 4th in the League. Our Girls Frosh/Soph team is showing the Coaches that the future is fast! Our Girls' 3rd place finish is a sign of good times to come. Special recognition goes to the 4x100m Relay Champions: Gabriella Ferrara, Taylor Hayes, Kaley Orquiola, and Harper Wolfe Lyons. Also, Lucia Riley was narrowly edged-out for the win by .03 seconds with a PR of 1:04.99 seconds. In the League Standings, this time places her 18th, and puts her in the lead on our team. She returned for 2nd place in the 200m dash, with a time of 28.35 seconds, and another team leading time. This was also a PR! And, Clehann Howard won the 300m Hurdles and took 2nd place in the 100m dash with 13.58 seconds, which was a PR run.
