Jim Thorpe, PA — The Boys and Girls Programs continued on their quest of improvement throughout the course of the season by sweeping North Schuylkill yesterday. The Boys score was 103-47 while the girls were victorious 117-32. The boys were led by Ridge Snyder (1600 and 800 victories) and Zeeshan Issifu on the track (1st place 400, 2nd place 100/200) while numerous field event athletes hit Personnel Best during the course of the meet. Kolby Cavanaugh was a double event winner (300 Hurdles, Triple Jump). In the throws, the depth continues to produce team points as Brett Balliet won the javelin with a PR throw of 144 feet 7 inches. Sal Capria PRed in the shot put for the win with a throw of 42 feet 5.5 inches. Bryson Heydt started the meet off with a PR in the disc and a throw of 117 feet 10 inches for the win. On the girls side, it was once again a well rounded effort between the sprints/hurdles, distance races, throws, and jumps that propelled the Olympians to the win. Katrin Cavanaugh (PV, LJ, TJ) and Kaila O'Connor (100, 200, 400) triple event winners for the Lady Olympians. In the process, Kaila broke the stadium record in the 100 M dash and 200 M dash; the 200 M time re-established her school record. Aurora Van Auken contributed 2 wins in the hurdle races. Several other student-athletes PRed throughout the course of the meet to contribute to the win. Next up is a trip to Central Dauphin Middle School and Landis Field for the New Balance Pan-Ram Invitational Saturday, April 8th starting at 9:00 am.
