Colorado Springs, CO — Yesterday, we took a small number of athletes to the D11 Last Chance Meet. The goal for athletes in this meet is to qualify for the state track meet or to improve their seeding at state. Rather than enter full teams, T&F programs enter only select athletes in this meet. Our highlights included: • Two freshmen, Anna Mulholland and Shayla Miller, ran absolutely killer races. Each has likely earned a spot on one or more relays at the state track meet! • Josh Gentry earned a silver medal in the pole vault. • Charlie Scott earned a silver medal in the discus. • Lauren McDowell earned a gold medal in the 100m dash. • Julia Thomas earned a gold medal in the 800m run. • Our girls 4x100m relay team of Kira Prehm, Ellie Stewart, Laila Shelton, and Lauren McDowell earned a gold medal and ran their first sub-50 second time of the season. This group will threaten the school record at the state track meet. • Sam Hoghaug earned a gold medal in the 800m run. The biggest highlight of the meet was a new school record. The team of Charlie Latch, Terrance Dantzler, Gavin Horvath, and Ethan Emmons broke the school record in the 4x100m relay with a time of 43.56. The old record of 43.91 was set in 2019. There have been no new school records set in on-track events by our boys team since 2019, so this was very exciting.
