Cadillac , MI — "It has been a big year for our team, we have had a lot to be happy about with the move north and DJ Potgeter qualifying for the State Finals is one more thing to add to the list. He is the first skier to make it to the finals since 2020 and we are excited to see him ski at Nubs Nob on Monday Feb 26th. DJ is a talented skier, a hard worker and everything paid off for him Monday at Caberafe when he finished 10th in Slalom. He earned a medal and the chance to race both disciplines at the State Finals" The Scots ended up 7th in a very tough Regional, made up of 13 teams from the Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo and Cadillac areas. "Our guys came out and skied really well. We were happy with their performances at the race but the fastest teams were a bit faster than we were today. Even though we are moving on to the State Finals these guys have proven race after race they are a hard working and determined bunch that always give their best efforts. My seniors have really been a joy to coach over the years and it was fun to watch them push themselves to see how fast they could become. The have all had great careers and accomplished a lot." "Brayden Smith has been All Conference all 4 years of his career, Ben Diegel has been a two year starter and has been an outstanding skier that always comes through with the run when we need it most and Cohen Broomfield has really turned into a fast skier who can be as fast as any of our guys and has been doing it when we need him most this year." Scoring for the Scots were DJ Potgeter (10th SL & 26th GS), Cohen Broomfield (30th SL & 30th GS), freshman Aidan Brown (32 GS & 32.5 SL), Brayden Smith (16th GS) and Ben Diegel 34th SL). Also skiing at Regionals was sophomore Derick Pritchard.
