Wichita, KS — The GHS Bowling team started the season off with the Bishop Carroll Bakers Tournament at Northrock Lanes in Wichita on Saturday. There were 36 schools competing. The girls team of Sage Champanier, Hannah Rouse, April Allen, Hannah Rogers & Kate Szurpicki finished in 15th place. Three girls saw their first Varsity action. Senior Sage Champanier led the way with a 91% frame closing percentage, meaning either a Strike or a Spare on her frames. The boys team of Caleb Mann, Emerson Horning, Ryan Nguyen, Ben Szurpicki, Chandler Campbell & Eric Sather finished in 19th place. Again, three were competing on Varsity for the first time. Senior Chandler Campbell led the way with a 87% closing percentage followed closely by Caleb Mann at 84%.

MVPs

Sage Champanier

Closed 91% of all her frames with either a Strike or a Spare as the team anchor for the entire tournament. Led the team in total strikes with 15 and had strikes in almost half of her total frames.

Chandler Campbell

Started the day bowling a split frame and by the end of the day was the team anchor. Closed 87% of his frames to lead the team. Also led the team in total strikes thrown on the day with 14.

Caleb Mann

In his first match coming back from an elbow injury suffered during Football Season, was second on the team with an 84% closure rate on his frame and led the team in total spares with 15.
