Torrance, CA — TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College hosted the second annual Dave Shannon Invitational on Saturday at Murdock Stadium and the ECC Throws Field. A number of teams from the 3C2A as well as unattached club athletes and NCAA Division I athletes made their way to Murdock Stadium for the event that saw a number of Warriors perform well. Naomi Walker kicked things off with a dominant showing in the hammer throw, the first event of the day. Walker posted a mark of 133 feet, 9 inches to win the event. The next best thrower was more than 30 feet shorter than Walker's mark. In the first men's running event of the day, the Warriors' 4x100 relay team of Izak Giacchetto, Anthony Taylor, Matthew Irvine and Yuto Tamada scored the win as they finished in 42.00, more than one second better than runner up Saddleback. Ami Jacobson secured a victory in the 1500m with a time of 4:52.52, edging out unattached runner Jacqueline Duarte (4:53.87), who competes at USC, and teammate Sequoia Gonzales (4:57.10). Anthony Taylor secured the fourth win of the day for the Warriors in the 400 hurdles with a time of 55.35 after finishing second in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 14.74. The final win of the day for the Warriors came in the final running event of the day as the 4x400 relay team of Irvine, Timothy Coleman, Taylor and Tamada finished with a time of 3:29.24. Other notable finishes for the Warriors included: Lotanna Muonagor: 2nd place in the high jump (5 feet, 10 ¾ inches) Dylan Bucher: 2nd place in the javelin (151 feet, 9 inches) and 3rd place in the high jump (5 feet, 10 ¾ inches) Aaron Cohen: 2nd place in the 5000m (15:55.88). Alexis Pitts: 3rd place in the 100m (12.72). Matthew Irvine: 3rd place in the 400m (49.78) Timothy Coleman: 4th place in the 800m (2:00.97) Izak Giacchetto: 4th place in the 110 hurdles (15.58). The Warriors will return to action on Friday back at Murdock Stadium as Long Beach City College hosts their track meet on the campus of ECC.
