Cadillac , MI — (An error was found in the scoring which moved our team up in the standings) The Scots traveled to Caberfae Peaks to compete in the Cadillac Invitational on Monday. The boys teams at the meet consisted of Cadillac, Caledonia, Cedar Springs, Clare, Harrison, Mattawan/Paw Paw, Mt. Pleasant, Onekama and Rockford. The Scots started out with some great GS runs, led by David Potgeter who medaled with a 6th place finish. Caledonia ended up 4th in GS. Also scoring in GS were Derick Pritchard (13th), freshman Jake Potgeter (17th) and James Pritchard (34th). “Our guys really skied hard in GS and we are happy with the 4th place, especial since we had a couple of guys DNF. The depth of this team really stepped up and filled in after our second and fourth flight guys lost skis on their runs. We are extremely excited about how Jake Potgeter and James Pritchard are skiing, they both provided great runs and helped us today!” Coach Petrosky In the afternoon slalom race, Caledonia ended up taking 5th and were once again led by, senior, David Potgeter who medaled again with a 6th place finish. Also scoring in slalom were Aidan Brown (14th), James Pritchard (27th) and Derick Pritchard (28th). “ We learned a lot at this race about the determination of this team. They pushed hard and really skied with grit to ski well on a slalom course that was deceptively challenging. The conditions were great and we are excited that we are finely having the temps that really make ski racing fun!” Coach Petrosky “The past couple years have been warmer than we would like and it has caused a lot of cancelations and postponements but with our move to Crystal Mountain, we have been fortunate to have great snow conditions this year and our training is staring to show in the results of this team.” The Scots next meet is a conference race on Wednesday Jan 15th at Crystal Mountain, in Thompsonville.
