Cadillac , MI — The Scots traveled to Caberfae Peaks to racing in the Cadillac Invitational on Monday and the girl’s team had some incredible action. During the morning slalom session, Chiara Marta ran a blistering 26.79 in her first slalom run, which was over half second faster than the next racer and helped her win the slalom event and earn a first place medal. “Chiara’s slalom race was impressive, she won in a group of girls that included several first team all state skiers. She is just fun to watch ski and to coach. It has been a while since Caledonia has had a dominant female skier, we have had a lot of great skiers but in our sport very few people ever win a race let alone an Invitational with 7 other teams.” Coach Petrosky The girl’s team ended up 6th in slalom, and featured some great skiing from our other scorers: Madison Reynolds (27th), Erin Peckham (28th), and Liz Hilton (29th). Marta also led the team in giant slalom, medaling with a 2nd place finish in a very close GS race. Zuzanna Poradzka also medaled for Caledonia in giant slalom with a 10th place finish. Rounding out the scoring in gs were Liz Hilton (22nd) and Madison Reynolds (29th). “We really saw improvement in the entire team this weekend and at this race. We have been concentrating on good skiing on challenging slopes and it showed today when we race on a lesser pitch. Our girls have really been pushing themselves and all of our coaches are pleased with the results. We are clumping scores together and also moving up in placements.” Coach Petrosky. The Scots ended up 5th place at the meet that was against Cadillac, Clare, Cedar Springs, Mattawan/Paw Paw, Mt. Pleasant, Onekama and Rockford.
