Thompsonville, MI — The Jim Groenevelt Memorial Race at Crystal Mountain brings together some great teams for around the state. This year, Clare, Grand Rapids Christian, Onekama, Glen Lake, Harrison, Grayling and Mt. Pleasant competed with Caledonia in the race. The Scots skied well and ended up taking 5th in the final standings. In the morning slalom session, Chiara Marta set the pace in slalom winning with a combined time of 1:02.24, which was 1.47 seconds faster than the next racer. Also scoring for Caledonia were a group of skiers that placed almost consecutively: Zuzanna Poradzka (26th), Madison Reynolds (28th) and Ada Decker (29th). Chiara also won giant slalom by an impressive 1.19 seconds, winning her second medal of the day. The other scorers in slalom were Zuzanna Poradzka with a 21st place finish, Madison Reynolds with a 26th place finish and Kayli Price, who took 28th. “We are extremely happy with how Chiara is skiing. She is a hard worker that is focused on doing her best. Her dedication is really pushing our other skiers and we are seeing them get faster too!
