Zuzanna Poradzka and Chiara Marta with their medals at Schuss Mountain
Mancelona, MI — Schuss Mountain is one of the best race venues in the state of Michigan, which translates to it is a huge steep slope and it was home to the Clare Invitational on Monday where Caledonia headed north to compete in the ten team girls meet and ended up in 7th place.
“About half of our girls have not raced KINGDOM COME at Schuss, which is 550 feet of steep slopes and some incredibly fast courses and the girls really skied well. In Slalom, everyone completed their two runs while in slalom we lost Chiara, after she lost her skis in a spectacular crash, and the rest of the team really stepped up their skiing.” Coach Petrosky “ I am proud of how well we did, especially in GS where we had a lot of challenges, ranging from delays due to course conditions to delays because of injuries to skiers. It seemed like every time something put a course into a delay our skier was in the start waiting for their turn and they came out and nailed their runs afterwards.”
In the morning slalom event, Caledonia was led by Chiara Marta who medaled with a second place. Also scoring for the Scots were Zuzanna Poradzka (27th), Liz Hilton (27th), and Ada Decker (35th).
In the afternoon giant slalom event, Zuzanna Poradzka earned a 13th place medal. Also scoring were: Liz Hilton (21st), Ada Decker (29th) and Madison Reynolds (35th)
