Belmont, MI — It was a beautiful spring like day, which normally is not great for ski racing but ended up being a great night on the slopes for the Scots. Caledonia's boys and girls middle school teams both took 2nd at the second West Michigan Middle School GS Series race of the season. "We saw a lot of great runs a the race tonight, the coaches were very happy with how well our kids raced. These kids have worked hard all winter to become better skiers and it is really starting to show." Varsity Coach Petrosky. " My middle school coaches have really stressed good skiing fundamentals which is creating great skiers who are fast and have bright futures ski racing." The girls team was led by Ellie Radel (3rd place), Olivia Yonker (8th place), Elsie Decker (11th place) and Marin Dentler (12th place). Emily Hilton (17th) and Lexi Lakatos (18th) also had great races and helped push back the other teams racers, which is part of the team strategy of ski racing. The boys team was led by Dan Calhoun (3rd place), Dan Calhoun (5th place), Graeme Wolverton (10th place) and Jase Radel (13th place). Miles Barnwell (17th), Jon Prichard (18th) , Jet Stawski (21st), Harrison Dean (28th) Jack Stawski (29th), Neil Ewing (31st) and Max Norlund (34th) helped create the Caledonia Clump that pushes back our opponents to help the team place well. Our next race is Saturday March 1st at Cannonsburg. The race is scheduled to begin at 10am.
