Thompsonville, MI — The Lake Michigan Ski Conference held its second meet of the season on Wednesday January 15th and Caledonia skied to a solid 2nd place finish. The Scots placed second in both GS and SL at the meet. “Our guys really skied well and are starting to see a trend of improvement in our placements. It is fun to watch our younger skiers really catch on and begin moving up in the overall standings. Jake Potegeter, and James Pritchard are really skiing well, along with several of our JV skiers (Justin Harper, Max Doll, Brennan Donnelly and Jackson Pugh to name a few) really had great events at the race.” David Potgeter led the way in giant slalom placing 2nd, also scoring in GS were: Jake Potgeter (7th), Derick Pritchard (8th), and Peter Calhoun (9th). All of our varsity skiers were in the top fifteen for the varsity-scoring portion of the race. The Scots were led in slalom by David Potgeter, who finished 3rd. Potgeter skied great tonight and his leadership is evident if you watch him during course inspection and when he is with the team. “I have really seen great things from David, in terms of leadership this season. He is always encouraging his team mates and is constantly building them up. He is a big reason our younger skiers are really taking off right now and am proud of how he represents our school.” Coach Petrosky. Also scoring in slalom for the Scots were Aidan Brown (7th), Jake Potgeter (9th) and James Potgeter (10th). Next week, the Scots have a LMSC race on Wednesday January 22nd at Crystal Mountain and on Friday Jan 24th we travel back to Crystal to race in the Jim Groenevelt Memorial Race (formerly the Benzie Invitational).
