Thompsonville, MI — “We are reaching the part of the season where we are really seeing some great skiing and our guys are working hard to prepare for Regionals. We are getting closer to where we want to be when we race at Cannonsburg on Feb 10th. Tonight, we had a few mistakes but whenever someone had a rough run there was someone there to pick up the points to help the team. I really see everyone skiing with the team mentality and also having the speed to score when we need then them most” Coach Petrosky “DJ has been leading the way for the boys team and I hope that the underclassman are learning from his example. He focuses on his runs and then focuses on how he can help his team have the best runs possible.” David Potgeter led the Scots to a 2nd place finish at Wednesday’s LMSC meet with Clare HS as a guest. Scoring in giant slalom were DJ Potgeter(4th), Peter Calhoun (9th), Aidan Brown (13th) and James Pritchard (14th). Caledonia tied for 2nd in this event. Scoring in slalom were DJ Potgeter (4th), Aidan Brown (7th), Jake Potgeter (9th) and Derick Pritchard (11th). Caledonia was 2nd in slalom at this race. “Even though these articles tend to focus on the varsity, our JV skiers are really skiing well. We saw a bunch of them run times that would have them starting for many other teams. James Diegel and Brennan Donnelly both had an exceptional race in both events last night, while Max Doll had the best runs of his career in GS. This is the time of the season where all of our hard work really starts to show, we have two more conference races and the Caledonia Invite for the JV skiers to compete in and I know that they will all continue to get faster! " Coach Petrosky. The varsity heads to Gaylord Friday to race in the Grayling Slalom Hootenanny at the Otsego Club Resort and then head to Schuss Mountain to race in the Clare Invitational on Monday. The whole team’s next race will be Wednesday Feb 5th at Crystal Mountain in the 4th LMSC race of the season.
