Peoria, IL — The lions continued their strong season this weekend at the prestigious First to the Finish Invitational in Peoria, IL. Competing on the historic state course at Detweiler Park for the first time this season, both teams posted solid early-season marks.
The boys’ squad finished in the top third of all 2A teams, and the third team out of the southern sectional. They were led by James Samples’ personal best, and backed up by solid races from multiple runners, including lifetime bests from Nick and Jake Wilhelm.
The lady lions competed hard as well, finishing in the top half of all 2A teams, and top four from the southern sectional. They were paced by Lyla Seaman and Laney Sambursky who both finished in the top 50. Personal bests from Claire Samples, Landry Crain, Mackenzie Reames, and Kaylee Work provided strong support and showed impressive team depth.
Carterville will be back on the race course this coming Saturday, September 20th at Noble Park in Paducah, KY.
