Recap
Murphysboro, IL — In what has become a yearly tradition, the lady lions dominated the SIRR (Ohio) Conference championship race. With five runners in all-conference position, and all seven runners in the top twenty, CHS scored a minuscule 24 points en route to their third consecutive title.
The boys also remained competitive in an increasingly elite-level conference by placing in the top three teams for the third consecutive year. The lions were paced by August Anderson, who earned all-conference honors for the third time in his career despite facing illness and battling hot racing conditions. He was followed by equally gutsy races from multiple teammates, many also dealing with illness.
The junior varsity runners also competed exceptionally well, with personal bests from Ethan Shelby, Ashby Stottler, Chase Dinga, Mackenzie Reames, Isabella Seever, and Rose Balmforth. Both JV teams took home first place, showcasing the lion’s depth. Congratulations to all JV runners on a fantastic season!
Both varsity teams will race again on Saturday, October 25th at the 2A (1C) regional championships hosted by your own Carterville lions at CHS.
