Fallon, NV — The first varsity outing of the season is in the books, and our crew jumped straight into the deep end at the Fallon Duals. Ten duals over two days meant plenty of mat time, plenty of pressure, and plenty of opportunities to grow. We mixed it up with Fallon, Lowry, South Lake Tahoe, Wooster, Galena, Truckee, Hug, and more no easy matches, no easy lessons. For our returning wrestlers, it was a chance to test new skills and shake off the rust. For our new wrestlers, it was a crash course in real competition: proper nutrition, pre-match prep, and learning how fast you need to think when the whistle starts flying. Duals also gave our team a chance to help each other make adjustments between matches, talking through mistakes, finding solutions, and building real camaraderie the way wrestling does best: one match at a time. Wrestler of the Week: Isabele “Izzy” Tamondong (120) This pick wasn’t easy. A lot of wrestlers took big steps forward this weekend. But one moment stood out, the kind that changes an athlete. Wrestling boys at 120, Izzy faced some serious horsepower. The physical battle was tough, but the mental challenge was tougher. At times her mind said, you can’t. She chose to trust her training and her coaching… and that choice paid off. Late in one of her matches, down by one with seconds left, Izzy hit her internal reset button. She dug deep, fired off a beautiful last-second takedown, and sealed the win. It wasn’t luck—it was courage, grit, and belief. That moment didn’t just earn her a victory; it turned a corner in her wrestling journey. Congratulations, Izzy! Your fight lit a spark for the whole team. On to the Next One We’re on the right path. The work we put in now will show up in January and February. One match, one lesson, one improvement at a time. Let’s keep building. Go Tigers! 🐾
