Winnemucca, NV — This week the Varsity squad hit the road to Winnemucca for the Cody Louk Invitational, squaring off against tough competition from Eastern Nevada, several local programs, and a team out of Oregon. The Young Tigers didn’t back down every match was earned, and every round brought valuable lessons. Six Tigers battled their way into Day Two: Jesse Reiner, Sam Lopez, Anders Nixon, Ben Goldstein, Maddex Kuckenmeister-Jones, and River Klein. Maddex and River both in the championship bracket, advancing to the quarterfinals in stacked weight classes. In the blood rounds, Jesse, Sam, and Anders came up just short of medal contention after gritty performances against tough opponents. River wrestled deep in a loaded 113-lb bracket and narrowly missed the podium. Maddex Kuckenmeister-Jones and Ben Goldstein fought through a brutal field to earn 6th-place finishes, proving they belong in the mix. Other standout performances: • Jakob Fair went 2-2 on the day, highlighted by a pin over a 3A State Champion who had defeated him the week prior at Fallon a huge response. • Ryder Robiscotti, Cyler Eaton, Ethan Halladay, and Wyatt Tomazin each went 2-2 with strong, competitive showings. • Ethan Halladay returned to the starting lineup at 138, adding depth and toughness to the roster. Wrestler of the Week: Anders Nixon This week’s choice wasn’t easy again. But Anders Nixon took a clear step forward. He wrestled with confidence and control, putting himself in solid positions, staying composed in tough spots, and working through high-level opponents. This weekend marked a new level in his development, and it showed in every match. Congrats, Anders. Keep building. This team is learning how to compete deep into tournaments, handle adversity, and trust the process. Go Tigers. 🐾
