Recap
Sparks, NV — The Douglas High School girls wrestling team traveled to Reed High School for the annual Queens Tournament, one of the largest girls tournament in Nevada. The event featured 27 teams and nearly 200 wrestlers, with five teams traveling from California to compete.
Douglas brought a roster of 10 wrestlers and put together an impressive performance.
Ella Kavanagh – 110 lbs | Champion
Ella dominated her bracket, going 4–0 with four pins and no points scored against her. A complete statement performance.
Jasmine Tamondong – 125 lbs | Champion
Jasmine tore through her bracket to finish 4–0, earning three pins and one tech fall. She controlled every match from start to finish.
Millie Batavia – 130 lbs | 2nd Place
Millie went 3–1 with three pins. She battled in a tough finals match and came up short on points, earning a hard-fought runner-up finish.
Sasha Wadle – 125 lbs | 4th Place
Sasha finished 3–2 with three pins. She wrestled confidently all weekend, showing how much work she’s put in and earning her way into the finals.
Izzy Tamondong – 115 lbs
Izzy went 5–1 with four pins, wrestling smart and fast throughout the tournament. With a standard bracket format, she would have secured 3rd place.
Ashlynn Kavanagh – 115 lbs
Ashlynn went 1–2, wrestling hard all day while battling illness. A gritty effort.
Grace Ruiz – 115 lbs
Grace went 1–2 before an arm injury forced her to withdraw from the tournament.
Kenley Dollar – 120 lbs
Kenley went 0–2, but the record doesn’t reflect how hard she competed in her matches.
Cambria Workman – 120 lbs
Cambria went 0–2, wrestling tough in a very stacked bracket.
Ali Molina – 190 lbs
Ali went 0–2, but she was in on every match and continues to build on her hard work and training.
Out of 27 teams, Douglas High finished 6th overall a huge achievement for a smaller roster. Although we brought 10 wrestlers, only six could score team points due to multiple athletes competing in the same weight classes.
Proud of this group and the direction this program is headed. Tough, disciplined, and improving every week. 🐅💪
