Santa Clarita , CA — While it was blistering hot for a March day, the GV team did not let that stop them as they brought their own heat when it came to their races. We saw lots of PR's (Personal Records), CIF qualifying times, as well as school records broken. The JV Girls won with a score of 40-36. We saw some great swims and PR's from Andee Tolentino and Zuleimy Doroteo in the 50 Freestyle and another PR for Zuleimy in her 50 Backstroke. For the JV Boys, Team Captain Michael Hasayki Malaeb dropped two seconds in his 50yd Breastroke to earn himself a giant PR. Sebastian Masia dropped an AMAZING 7 seconds in his 50yd Backstroke, earning his first PR as well. Matthew Larson is doing his best to shave off time on his 50 Free as he dropped it down a little more to get a best time and PR for the day. The JV teams are now two dual meets in and starting to come together as they look further down the road, hoping to achieve more PR's. On the Varsity side, the girls brought some strong swims to beat Castaic 59-6. Freshman Chloe Cho had some great standout swims, including her 50 Freestyle, where she earned herself an automatic qualifying time for CIF. In her Breastroke, she just missed an automatic time yet still received CIF consideration. Keira Felix also earned a couple of CIF consideration times in her 50 Free and 500 Free, a race she never even does! Chloe Cortez also earned consideration time in her 100 backstroke, and Hannah Bautista muscled up enough to also make it in her 50 Free. The girls were on fire!!! Our two-man Varsity Boys team shockingly came away with the win 24-12 over Castaic. Jacob Estrella, swimming off normal races, still did amazing and was able to PR and get CIF consideration times! Dieter Ignacio, who wasn't feeling well, not only swam events that are not his usual but also got CIF automatic cuts in both events and broke his own school record from last year in the 200 Freestyle. Way to Go!! Thank you to all who came out and suffered the heat with us to support and encourage the kids. Next week, we will be swimming against Hart on Tuesday, 3/24.
