Tujunga, CA — Verdugo Hills High School track and field made history this week. Verdugo Hills was able to hold their first Home League Meet to the season after a few unforeseen events. The team has been able to compete at all levels and field athletes in almost all of the events. One field event stands out. The highlight of the day was the return of the Pole Vault, an event that has been absent from the Dons' competitive lineup for almost 10 years. This full-scale participation across all disciplines marks a significant milestone for the program as it continues to build momentum in the 2026 outdoor season. The return to the pole vault pits was met with high energy, as athletes sought to break a long-standing drought in one of the sport's most technical field events. We received our first official marks at 9 feet and met the city finals benchmark. The final scores for the meet reflected a hard-fought day on the track and in the field: Varsity Boys: VHHS - 87 Poly - 54 Grant - 16 Varsity Girls: VHHS - 84 Poly - 21 Grant - 32 Frosh/Soph Boys: VHHS - 87 Poly - 26 Grant - 30 Frosh/Soph Girls: VHHS - 60.5 Poly - 22.5 Grant - 29 Great job Dons. This week North Hollywood is up and then we are off to League Prelims and Finals.
