Northville Battles Through Challenging Field and Conditions at Oak Pointe
Pleasant Counseling Invitational
Oak Pointe Lineup
Brighton, MI — The Northville Mustangs faced off against a deep and talented field at the Pleasant Counseling Varsity Invitational, held at the scenic and demanding Oak Pointe Country Club. In a tournament dominated by heavyweights from the KLAA and Catholic League, Northville held their own, navigating a course known for punishing errant shots and requiring precise course management. The cold temperatures and tight course design made for a challenging day across the field.
Northville Performance Highlights
While the team score reflects a solid collective effort, the individual stretches of play showcased the potential of this Mustangs roster:
Ben’s Back-Nine Surge: Ben started and ended his round on a streak of great golf carding an impressive 37 on the back-9.
The "Par Machines": Consistency was the name of the game for Luca and Andrew. Luca recorded 8 pars, while Andrew notched 10 pars, effectively limiting damage and keeping the scorecard clean across long stretches of the round.
Andrew’s Steady Round: Andrew served as the model of reliability throughout the day. His disciplined approach and ability to find the green consistently allowed him to post his lowest score of the season.
Zach’s Resilient Finish: Zach showed incredible mental toughness after a challenging start; he found his rhythm to play his last 11 holes in just 4-over par.
This round at Oak Pointe served as an excellent "stress test" for the Northville roster. This challenge early in the season provides the Mustangs with the perspective needed to sharpen their short games before the MHSAA tournament cycle begins.
