Jackson, MI — Women’s Recap The Saline women’s team put together a strong performance against quality competition, highlighted by sprint success, improving depth, and key field event finishes. Sprint group led the way. Charlotte Warren took 2nd in the 100m (12.84) and followed with a 4th place finish in the 200m (26.64 SB). Addisen Freeburn delivered a standout race to place 3rd in the 200m with a 26.36 PB, continuing her strong progression this season. Janaye Sifuna and Amelia Lorch added solid efforts in the 100m. Mid-distance and distance showed growth. Freshman Ruby Giddings led the 800m group with a 2:31.73 PB, while Caroline Cotner added another strong effort. The 1600m and 3200m groups competed well, with several athletes gaining valuable experience and continuing to build consistency. Hurdles and relays contributed key performances. Payton Aagesen ran a strong race in the 300m hurdles, placing 3rd with a 49.30 PB. The 4x100 (51.32) and 4x200 (1:50.94) relays both placed 4th against a competitive field. Field events provided key highlights. Mahalia “Mimi” Staton placed 2nd in the long jump (15'3.5"). Nova Platzer took 2nd in the shot put and added a 3rd place finish in discus, while Isabelle Belaire placed 2nd in discus. Overall, the women showed continued development, with multiple personal bests and strong finishes across event groups. Men’s Recap The Saline men’s team delivered a strong performance, highlighted by elite hurdling, distance depth, and competitive relay finishes. Hurdles dominated the meet. Chanon Palmer continued his outstanding season, sweeping both hurdle events—winning the 110m hurdles (14.65) and the 300m hurdles with a 38.28 PB. Freshman Dezmond MacDonald gained valuable experience and contributed in both hurdle events. Distance group was a major strength. In the 1600m, Saline packed the top five with Gavin Bast (3rd, 4:34.69 PB), Jack Klein (4th, PB), and Carlos Basulto (5th, PB) all running lifetime bests. The 800m group saw continued progress with Klein and Basulto both setting personal bests. In the 3200m, Ryan Rummel (10:16.01 PB) and Will Sollenberger (10:24.34 PB) led the way. Sprints and relays competed well. Cruz Hanson had a strong meet, placing 2nd in the 400m (51.10) and running a 23.38 PB in the 200m. The 4x200 relay team took 2nd (1:32.44), while the 4x100 also placed in a competitive field. Field events added important points. Lennon Cohoon placed 2nd in the long jump. The throws group showed strong improvement, with Nathan Mercer throwing a 41'4" PB in shot put and a 114'3" PB in discus to place 3rd. Kameron Lewis and Jack Bersuder also added solid marks in both throwing events. Overall Takeaway Competing against a strong field, Saline athletes continued to show growth, competitiveness, and depth. With standout performances in the hurdles, distance events, and throws, along with multiple personal bests, the team continues to build momentum heading into the next phase of the season.
