Recap
Mount Pleasant, MI — It was a great day of running at the Oiler Invite in Mount Pleasant. The boys kicked off the racing action, finishing in a tie for second with Mason and losing the tiebreaker by one point. Colton Mulder delivered another strong performance with a 16:41, followed by Beckett Swanson (18:17), Logan Mahan (18:24), Masyn Wing (18:39), and Brodie Haslett (18:40) to round out the top five for the boys. The team continues to improve each day, and I was very impressed with our growth from our first meet to today. Senior Masyn Wing really stepped up for us, running over two minutes faster than at Benzie, and sophomore Colton Mulder continues to be as consistent as ever.
The varsity girls followed up with a 2nd-place finish and many great performances. Ella McInerney finished second overall in 19:08, followed by Chloe Mazza (19:56), Hailey Kuhn (20:31), Lilly Sparks (22:30), and Scotlyn Wistinghausen (22:52) as the top five scorers for the girls team. The course was very wet and torn up for their race, but they battled hard and did extremely well. We were missing one of our top five girls, and I thought Scotlyn really stepped up, running her best time of the season and earning a medal, along with Chloe Mazza, who finished six spots better than last year at this meet.
I was really happy with how all our kids competed in the wet, rainy weather. They showed real toughness and gave it their all—I’m proud of them all.
